Dark medieval chiptunes composed using retro fm synths resembling the classic DOS retro RPG or fantasy wargame soundtracks from the late 80s or early 90s.
The pack contains 11 specific themes (13 tracks total, two of which have 2 slightly modified versions of the same theme), all in WAV format.

I'm making a game in the sword and sandal genre, and this reminds me a lot of Conan, so it's perfect.
I'd want more in this "dark medieval" style that would fit locations where the player can rest, like healing temples/camp sites. Maybe talking to friendly NPCs, in shops/marketplaces or taverns.
A rainy jungle type theme would be good, also. Maybe another battle theme for the behemoth-sized bosses, where you know you're probably going to die.
Awesome, thanks for telling me what other tracks you'd like for your game! I am about to release a 2nd Dark Medieval DOS retro chiptune pack similar to this (art and most tracks are already done) and can take a shot at also creating those specific track types you listed.
But I'm also a Conan fanatic and already made a silly yet-to-be-released game called "Barbarian Master," and produced about 17 tracks across 2 Bandcamp chiptune releases that were directly Conan/Barbarian inspired. :)
Right now those tracks are just on Bandcamp and not Itch yet, but I am going to post all tracks from both Barbarian releases as another chiptune pack on Itch.io soon too (with the same kind of non-exclusive license as the first pack).
If you want to preview those directly-Conan inspired tracks that aren't on Itch yet (in case they worked for your sword-and-sandal genre game once I do upload them as an Itch music pack), here is the link:

Savage Sword of Conan is one of the main reasons why I'm making my game, and these tracks are a perfect fit. They all have that sinister, deadly tone I've been looking for, and they're very inspiring.
Great, glad they might be useful for your game, which sounds great from what you described so far!
I'll make a note to reply again later after I've released more packs that might work for the temple, camp, shops, taverns type themes you mentioned. (And feel free to let me know if you think of any other types of themes you might be interested in.)
More suggestions would be war drums for a dungeon.
One for a bustling desert city, and one for water caves where serpents might pop out and attack you, or maybe it's a gathering of nymphs.
Last would be for ghost towns, where everyone died from a plague or a monster attack, so you're just in there to see the aftermath.
Excellent suggestions, I'll try to get some more music packs out with my takes on all of those themes as early as I can in 2024.
i just saw the new release on Bandcamp, im ready to grab them both !
This is awesome stuff!
Thanks! More packs like this will be out later this year.
Really? I’m in love with this pack, the only thing that has stopped me so far from going all in on it is the worry that I wouldn’t have enough variety.
Cool, we will be out with more stuff in a similar style soon, but feel free to let me know if you have any particular themes in mind that you might want, or any favorite retro chiptune soundtracks (just in case I could come up with something similar). :)
fantastic work
Thanks a lot!
